Amie Skyler Murphree’s Alabama wedding day was a celebration of not one love but two.
Amie and her brother Matthew has a special surprise for the guests at Amie’s wedding.
Especially one specific guest, Matthew’s girlfriend Savannah.
When it was time for Amie to toss the bouquet to her bridesmaids, she didn’t toss it at all.
Instead, she handed the bouquet directly to Savannah.
That’s when Matthew got down on one knee to propose to his girlfriend at his sister’s wedding.
A video was taken of the proposal which ended up going viral.
Amie says that in order to pull the proposal off, she had to tweak her wedding schedule a bit.
“We actually had to skip the garter toss because I was so worried she would see the big ring box in his pocket,” she wrote in a Twitter direct message.
“She would have thought it weird that he didn’t participate in the garter toss so we skipped it and just went straight to the bouquet toss!”
Many people online questioned Amie’s decision to have someone propose at her wedding.
“This is so sweet but I would die if someone got engaged at my wedding lmfaooo,” said one person on Twitter.
But Aimee said that she didn’t think of it like that and it was “the most special day of my entire life!”
“He was kind of hesitant though because he really didn’t want to take the attention off me, but I didn’t see it that way,” she told Insider. “It made my day 100x more special and meaningful! I would do again and again for him.”
But most people were just gushing over the video which has been viewed more than 4.3 million times, liked more than 61,000 times, and retweeted more than 12,000 times.
“I mean if she wanted it to happen, I don’t see the problem. However, proposing during someone wedding events is selfish imo,” said one person on Twitter.
“OBVIOUSLY, They wanted it to happen. The woman said it herself. HOWEVER, someone proposing at someone else’s wedding is selfish for obvious reasons. OF COURSE, THIS PARTICULAR ONE isn’t selfish because it was planned,” said one Tweeter.
“This is literally the cutest thing ever,” said another.
“Omg this is the cutest!!! My brother is my best friend so I get it, people just too selfish to love something cute like this!!!” and another.
