Sometimes, people are just in the right place, at the right time. That’s what happened for this bride and groom, in the middle of their post-wedding photoshoot. In an instant, a child’s life is was the line and the groom jumped into action saving him from drowning. What an incredible guy, see how this man became a real hero on his wedding day!
Clayton and Brittany Cook, are love birds who had quite the scare on their wedding day
The wedding went off without a hitch, that’s when the newlyweds headed to Victoria Park for a photoshoot. Photographer, Darren Hatt, was at the park with the two, taking solo shots of the bride when tragedy almost struck.
Clayton had noticed 3 young kids playing by the edge of the river, his gut started telling him that something wasn’t right. The grooms’ intuition proved to be spot on, by the time Brittany looked backed her new groom had vanished.
One of the kids had been pushed into the water by the other’s and quickly began drowning
Clayton darted into action, with no regard for his expensive wedding tuxedo he plunged into the water. It happened so fast that Brittany had no idea what was going on.
Brittany’s first thought was that Clayton may be playing a joke until she recognized what was occurring and ran to her heroic husband. By the time she made it over, he had already pulled the drowning child from the water.
The child caught his breath, before running off without saying a word. I’m sure he was terrified, but at least he was safe
Photographer, Daren Hatt, captured the whole ordeal on his camera and spoke of Clayton’s quick reaction in an interview with CTV news.
“It was a commendable thing that he did, he sprung into action incredibly quick. Almost as soon as I realized what was going on, he had already saved the day.” Said Hatt.

When talking to CTV News, Brittany wasn’t particularly surprised that Clayton jumped into action, as that’s just the type of guy he is. The couple expressed gratitude that they happened to be in the right place, at the right time.
“That’s Clay to me, it doesn’t even surprise me that happened. That’s just something he would instinctively do.” Brittany told CTV News, she went on to say: “How different would everyone’s day have been if we weren’t in the right place at the right time.”
This is such a heartwarming story, Clayton showed amazing courage and selflessness with his actions. He may not think it’s a huge deal, but we know he’s a hero!
