“Hey, can you do it for free?”

Are you someone who has already heard this line before? If so, then you should know how irritating this line is. No matter if it’s for a photo-shoot service, a free design layout, and even for a free drawing – these services shouldn’t be asked to be done for free.

This is exactly what Jon Arton of Birmingham, England feels.

“I’ve always done pencil drawings since I was a kid,” Jon Arton shares with Bored Panda. “I love art, and it’s all I’ve ever wanted to do.”

That’s why he would always draw whenever he had time to spare and he loved what he was doing. However, since he was a kid, he recalls that he already started receiving requests for free drawings.

What would a talented kid do when he’s asked for a free drawing?

“I’d spend my time in class doodling insulting images of the teachers. It got me in trouble a few times but was worth it for making people laugh,” Jon shares with his interview with Bored Panda.

We couldn’t blame him, right? Asking for free services? We have to understand that even if the person seems to be doing it out of hobby or passion – it takes time and effort to get these things done.

Asking for free services can be a little too much especially when you know that this person makes a living for his or her talent.

“It can be a bit irritating,” he said to Bored Panda. “I take it as a compliment, and most people are a bit unaware of how much time can go into a piece of art. I thought a silly doodle might be the best comeback to that and hopefully make people laugh.”

So, what did Jon Arton do? He found a clever way to troll all the people who were asking for his free drawing – he still has a lot of requests until now.

The bright sun

Now, this lady seems to be a little straightforward with the request but Jon still did her a favor and made a drawing of her and a bright sun to match the mood.

People loved Jon Arton’s drawing that it now has a name of its own. It’s now called $h*art masterpieces and the people are addicted to his sense of humor and cute drawings.

So, what’s his next move?

Jon Arton posted this:

“If you are interested in one of my trademark $h*art masterpieces like these I am currently doing them for charity. Simply click the link. 100% of your donation goes to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.”

Now, that is what you call doing it for a cause. Now, people get this fun art from him and they get to help children who are in need as well.

So, for all those who think that it’s okay to ask for free services, think again before you actually ask for it? Sometimes, the better way to help someone is to actually support their talent.
