11-year-old spends $400 on dated camper then turns it into cutest tiny home

When children want something so bad, the first thing that they would probably do is to tell their parents about it.

And we all know that parents have different ways of dealing with their kids’ wishes.

Some would immediately grant their child’s request – which is understandable. They just want their little ones to be happy.

On the other hand, there are also some parents who teach their children to work for what they want. And it is something that all parents should do too. Young ones should learn that they can’t get everything they want instantly. Some things just require perseverance.

This is what Lauren Nelson has learned at a very young age.

One time, she saw something in an American Girl doll magazine and she knew that it’s something that she wanted. So, she immediately showed it to her parents.

It was a toy VW bus and it costs $650.

Her parents expressed their thoughts about it. Lauren’s mom Aimee Nelson talked about it during an interview with WKBW.

“My husband was like, ‘That’s ridiculous, you could buy your own camper for that price.’”

Lauren knew that her dad was right. So instead of a toy, what she wanted was a real camper.

The couple supported their young girl but they also let her save her own money so she could buy what she wanted.

“Lauren really does have an envelope where she saves money. And it’s just a little bit here and there from things, like $5 at Easter or Tooth Fairy money. It just added up.”

It’s like Lauren was destined to have her own camper.

It’s because she did not have a hard time looking for a perfect camper. She just found it in a place that’s very close to them. One of their neighbors down the road was selling a 20-foot long camper at an affordable price.

However, the price was a bit higher than Lauren’s budget so she took all the courage to negotiate with the seller.

Then, the seller agreed to sell the camper for $400!

“He said $500 and I said $400 because that was the money I had in my bank account and he said sold,” Lauren recounted.

With the help of her parents, Lauren renovated the camper. It didn’t become easy for all of them as they had to do some deep cleaning. They also had to shell out more money for the furnishings and accessories. She wanted to achieve a cozy and boho-styled place.

This girl literally worked hard for her tiny house. She made her own research and also looked for inspirations in some sites such as Pinterest. But the inspiration for her house was from the HGTV show Tiny House Hunters.

Her house turned out beautiful especially inside.

It has a tiny living space, a bedroom with four beds, a small comfort room, and a lovely kitchen. In her house, you’ll also see some decorations like a pot plant and mandala decoration.

All the hard work that Lauren put into her house really paid off. Her parents are also commendable for being supportive and at the same time, they also let her do her part to achieve it.

Clearly, this camper project has taught Lauren life lessons and skills that she would be able to use in the future.

She even said a powerful piece of advice that everyone should hear including us, adults.

“If you’re looking to have some big plans in the future, you should go out and do it. Make it happen.”

We will surely keep this in mind, Lauren!
