It was a calm and quiet afternoon for one owl – before he met an unexpected foe.

Considering owls are at the top of their food chain, you may be wondering to yourself, what would possibly be a foe to an owl? Another competitor seeking the same delicacies such as mice, squirrels or moles? Or perhaps a human foe, seeking to chop down the tree that owls reside in?

The answer is none of the above.

This owl found itself at battle with nature – or more specifically, the wind. And it was determined to not let the wind win.

During one afternoon tour of the wild, a wildlife photographer named Ariel Celeste noticed a pair of Great Gray Owls.

The pair were “very cooperative with photos and actively hunting”. But this one particular owl (it is speculated the owl was male due to his smaller size) had a stubborn will.

This owl decided to survey the land for any possible meals on top of a little, thin tree. However, the Wyoming wind decided to make his search a little more difficult by bringing in a powerful gust.

The wind was so powerful it almost knocked this owl off his perch!

This spectacular video below captures the event. At one point, the way the owl looks at the camera reminds me of the way characters from the American TV Show The Office would look at the camera.

He seems to be saying, “Can you believe how strong this wind is?”

But as I said earlier, this owl’s will is stronger.

Ariel left the sound from the camera in her uploaded video to show how powerful the wind was. Indeed, just listening to it makes you subconsciously feel a breeze.

It’s pretty impressive how this owl was able to hang on and withstand the cold blast for a few minutes.

But I think the most amusing thing is watching this owl’s expression throughout the duration of the video. Owls are such emotive creatures!

Please SHARE this expressive owl with your friends and family.
