The United States Marine Andrew Morales was planning to take a commercial flight along with his two dogs, but unfortunately, his dogs were rejected to fly on an airplane because they were quite big.

That’s when Helen Rosburg was more than happy to help Andrew out. Helen is the great-granddaughter of William Wrigley, who was known as one of the pioneer chewing gum industrialists.

Upon hearing the news that Andrew and his family would have to leave their pets behind, Helen simply sent a private jet for them to use.

“He was going to lose his dogs and I said ‘Not on my watch,'” Helen recalls. “He’s a hero on so many different levels. The Wrigleys are an extremely patriotic family and I am a true Wrigley child.”

The US Marine shared a great emotional bond with his dogs Dusty and Wyatt, as he saved them from an overseas military tour a couple of years ago. The two Anatolian Shepards and Andrew have been best friends with him ever since.

“In Afghanistan, they are pretty much your best friend,” Andrew told WWAY.

Andrew and his family had to move as the soldier was reassigned from the south of California to Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. Even though Andrew got in touch with all the airlines to see if his dogs could travel with him, he always got the same answer: his dogs were simply too large to be transported on a commercial airplane.

As he didn’t know what to do next, he called the rescue league that was responsible for helping in their rescue from Afghanistan. Thanks to the rescue league, Andrew’s story quickly spread online.

Helen found out about Andrew and his dogs because one of her friends had shared a post on her Facebook timeline. Helen is an avid supporter of the military and animal rescues – so she immediately wanted to help. Helen is also the founder of the On The Wings of Angels Rescue organization.

“Everybody in my circle knows what I do,” the good Samaritan said. “If they see an impossible situation, they’ll post something to my [Facebook] timeline.”

As you can imagine, Andrew and his family were absolutely thrilled to hear that there was a solution for them.

“From the bottom of me and my wife’s hearts we really appreciate what she did for us,” the US Marine said.

The Morales family would love to be able to thank Helen in person, and it looks like that might happen as Helen has said that she would absolutely want to meet them and that they’ve just “got a find a way to get together”.

What a beautiful and unique rescue story!
