Woman punches would-be car thief in the face and proceeds to chase him down the street

June 9th, 2021

When a car thief in Corona, California tried to steal Samantha Raahauge’s car, the thief quickly realized that he had targeted the wrong person. Raahauge was working at Crown & Stache Barbershop when the attempted theft took place.

She walked out of work and noticed that someone else was sitting in the driver’s seat of her 2007 Honda Civic.

As she approached the vehicle, she quickly realized what was going on.

Someone was trying to steal her car!

Raahauge elaborated more on how frustrating the situation was with CBS Los Angeles.

“Look at my car,” she said. “It’s sh*tty! And I work hard! And this [expletive] is out there stealing sh*tty cars, knowing that the person who owns that car probably doesn’t make a lot of money. It just hit me wrong,” said Raahauge

According to her, the car is only worth about $500, but it was clear to her that the criminal needed to pay for his crime. The thought of a criminal going after someone in the low-income bracket left a really vile taste in her mouth.

Raahauge sprung into action.

Most people would turn and run in the other direction if they found themselves in a situation like this. The typical solution is to yell at the criminal, run, and call the police.

When the adrenaline starts pumping, you never know what is going to happen. Could the individual be armed with a firearm or have a knife? There are so many factors to consider in the moment.

However, Raahauge, found herself charging towards her vehicle ready for action.

She immediately punched the thief in the face through the smashed driver’s side window. It sent a very clear message to the thief that if he wanted to steal her Honda Civic, it wasn’t going to be easy!

“I don’t know if it was God’s fist or Thor’s hammer,” Raahauge said. “But it was a good one.”

The thief had shaved off a key and was trying to get it to turn in the ignition.

However, Raahauge caught him before he had a chance to finish the mischievous act. The security camera from Raahauge’s work managed to capture a little bit of the action on tape.

When Raahauge’s fist hit the thief’s face through the window, it sent him into a panic.

He scrambled over the middle console and escaped out of the passenger’s side door.

Raahauge wasn’t just going to let the thief walk away though.

She raced after the car thief and the chase was on. They did a circle around the car and the guy took off down the sidewalk. At one point, he even lunged back towards Raahauge as if he was going to attack her.

“I basically went into full beast mode and said, ‘You ain’t gonna run away from me now,'” said Raahauge.

After the criminal realized how serious Raahauge was, he sprinted away.

She was trying to protect an important family possession in the car belonging to her daughter.

“I had her first Gi that she ever had that was custom in the car. I think that’s the only thing I would have been really upset about,” said Raahauge.

A gi is a uniform used in the sport of Jiu-Jitsu. They are important for training as the gis help martial artists to slip away from certain moves without any ripping or tearing, while also allowing for a full range of motion.

Wanting to set a good example for her daughter and to teach her that it is okay to stand up for herself, Raahauge raced towards her car and punched the criminal as hard as she could.

She managed to save the Jiu-Jitsu uniform, plus, she saved the car. After it was all said and done, she felt good about it.

The police didn’t arrive in time to catch the criminal, but after this encounter, he’ll likely think twice about attempting to steal another vehicle again.
