Do you believe in magic?
The world is full of possibilities and magic is no exception. We watched in awe as children and with the ever-growing popularity of television competition shows, we awe at it as adults.
The best magicians leave us jaw-dropped and scratching our heads. How did he do that?
We replay the trick in our minds and talk with our family and friends but come up with nothing. The brave go straight to the source seeking an answer. But of course, none are given.
“Magic,” they say.
Magicians all over the world flock to these shows in search of stardom, to see their name in lights in the biggest cities. No matter where you go, it’s all the same.
Isreal has recently jumped on the competition show train with Isreal’s Got Talent. Their first airdate was just last year. But they found their winner. Their star.
His name is Tomer Dudai.
Dudai’s set is quite amazing. He wastes no time coming to the stage and starting his act. The first thing he does is take off his white gloves, tosses them into the air, where they suddenly turn into an airplane, and fly away at lightning speed.
His topless assistant, (literally she has no top, torso, or head – she’s invisible aside from her legs), wheels a cart out to him using her waist. He proceeds to pour red wine into a floating glass. He then pours the glass but instead of liquid spilling out, a red towel falls out instead.
This is only the beginning.
The towel turns white. He rubs his hands together shredding the towel into thousands of little pieces. He then sits comfortably into an invisible chair. No, really. We can’t see it but he sits in it as if it’s there. He lays back into it, somehow being supported like the famous Michael Jackson lean.
The crowd cheers in awe.
The second performance starts off with an empty bed in the middle of the stage. A boy comes out and lays down into the bed. He pulls the covers over his head and suddenly, Dudai pops out. It’s mind-boggling. The audience and judges think so too. Everyone stares wide-eyed at one another.
“Did you see–?”
His assistant, a real one this time, shows Dudai up a flight of stairs. He gets into a screen box and is wheeled to the center of the stage. His assistant places a solid grey sheet over the box. She then picks up a black over and covers herself and him. But, she leaves her hand out.
Suddenly, the hand pulls the black sheet away but it isn’t the assistant. It’s Dudai! The assistant is now in the box that he was just in.
But how can that be?
“Magic,” they say.
For his last trick, Dudai is placed inside of another box. Again, his hands are left out. He’s wheeled to the center of the stage. A stick is used to push the side of the box, flattening it. But instead of Dudai being pushed out of the other side, the box simply flattens.
The assistant then pushes the box all the way down. The audience squirms uncomfortably in their seats. Just as it flattened completely, he and the little boy from the bed, pop up behind the judges.
The audience roars. The judges jump. Dudai gives one of the judges a rose. It was such an incredible performance.
I could sit here and write about his magic all day but you have to see to believe.
