You never know what to expect from reality singing competition performances. Are they going to make you cringe or knock your socks off?
The Voice Kids is a spin-off of the original The Voice competition where kids between 7 and 14 compete for a cash prize and their 15 minutes of fame.
But one teen’s blind audition for the German version of the popular television series has some serious staying power and his phenomenal rendition of Jerry Lee Lewis’ “Great Balls of Fire” had now earned over 52 MILLION views on YouTube since it was posted in 2015.
When the young man, named Tilman, comes on stage, he looks like any typical teen.
As he sits down at the piano, the audience has no way of knowing that their mouths will be hanging open 3 seconds later.
“Great Balls of Fire” was released all the way back in 1957 and has become one of the world’s best-selling singles of all time. It requires not only a great voice but some serious piano skills.
Tilman just happens to have both and the judges are in awe within seconds.
This kid can really belt out a tune and his performance skills are really something to behold. We love seeing young people embrace their talents!
Even those backstage are blown away by the vocal and instrumental stylings of the teenager.
It doesn’t take long for all the judges to hit their buttons, which turns around their chairs so they can see the performers and move them along to the next round.
After that, a dance party breaks out among them as the audience screams, cheers, and jumps up and down. The whole scene becomes quite a dance-fest.
But Tilman has barely gotten his groove on. The audience’s reaction makes the rest of his performance even more outstanding as he does some serious headbanging and hair-whipping while singing and playing the piano.
And if you remember Jerry Lee Lewis’ performances, you know he was quite the showman. Tilman doesn’t disappoint in his rendition, getting a leg up on the competition without missing a note.
Tilman went beyond simply performing a song, putting on a full-blown concert that made him look like he’s already a superstar.
And when he sings his final note, it’s clear that the judges are looking forward to more from this talented teen.
Performed when he was just 14, Tilman’s theatrics and talent are ones for the record books.
While he didn’t win the competition that year – losing out in the 3rd season of the German television series to Noah-Levi Korth – Tilman is still a performer.
He now tours with his band, called The Rolling Applzz. And we’re glad to see he’s still pursuing music!
Don’t miss out on Tilman’s epic performance that tens of millions of people have already seen. It’s sure to blow you away and bring a smile to your face. You can scroll down below to find the video.
We dare you not to sing and dance along!
