Son Melts Hearts With Message To Dad On Doorbell

January 11th, 2021

It seems like nowadays everyone has a home security system with a doorbell cam that you can watch from your phone. It’s great for monitoring package delivery when you’re not home, or snapping pictures of the neighbors dog doing it’s business on your lawn.

But kids today, who have grown up with devices like this and don’t know any other life, are always coming up with innovative ways to use technology. Here’s a perfect example in this video.

This young man is on his way to school and his dad left early that morning to catch a flight for his work. As the boy is out the front door to catch his bus to school he decides to ring the doorbell of his own house. He knows that his dad’s phone will buzz.

Dad is quick to pick up and they have a wonderful father son chat before dad boards his airplane. It’s this type of video that brings a smile to your day.

Such a handsome kid, and his dad surely knows it. When his son flashes those adorable braces, his dad tells him he looks marvelous.

That brings an even bigger smile to this young man’s face. And though we can’t see it, we’re sure dad has a huge smile too.

This kid is so polite. When his dad says he’s about to board the airplane, the kid says he doesn’t want to bother him.

Dad let’s him know, “You’re not a bother, kiddo. You know that.”

For those of us who don’t yet have the video doorbell, the Art of Manliness website has some great tips on traveling for business when you have kids at home.

Some of the good ideas include alerting your kids ahead of time and letting them know how long you’ll be gone. Have them help research the place you are headed to and get them in on helping pack your bags.

One of the main ideas from the article is to hold a video chat with your kids at a specific time each day. Be sure to steer clear of generic questions and go for some more direct and poignant ones instead. Such as…

  • What did you eat for lunch?”
  • “What was the funniest thing that happened to you today?”
  • “What was your favorite part of today?”
  • “What was something nice that someone did for you today?”
  • “What did you do after school?”

Another good practice is to maintain bedtime routines with your younger kiddos. The traveling parent can get involved by reading a bedtime story, saying prayers, or singing a lullaby.

Helping get those kids to bed will also be a big aid to the parent who is at home with the kids and doesn’t have the extra help that is usually there.

Kids who have grown up with tech seem to use it in ways that aren’t even thought about by those who grew up with rotary dial telephones.

And if you don’t know what that is, then you probably have some tech savvyness built into your brain.
