To retire from a job that you’ve been doing for many years must be difficult. Well, it may not be the same for everyone but even those people who are happy about their retirement would surely still feel even a bit of sadness.
It’s because their job has become a huge part of their life. It’s been a routine that they would surely miss in the long run.
Imagine what happened to Officer Cory Burrows when he did his final sign-off.
He got a bit emotional but he made it with a twist. He has been serving the city for the last thirty years and describes Footloose as one of his all-time favorite movies. We can see why. He loves dancing. In fact, he is actually very well-known in town for his dancing.
He made it memorable.
To make the memory of signing off duty after so many years extra special, he decided to do something different to cement the moment in history forever. Stepping out of his police car, the officer tells us what an honor and a privilege it has been to serve the community and then tells the camera he is going to cut loose one last time. He then jumps out of his squad car and treats us all to his funky moves from the Footloose movie.
He deserves to celebrate after 30 years of service.
The officer is very well-known for his remarkable dancing, so it’s no surprise that the video quickly went viral and was shared far and wide all over social media. Celebrating his last shift as a police officer, he threw his hands up in the air, danced with joy, and shouted out loud for everyone to hear,
“I’m done!”
Thirty years is a long time to serve and protect, so he wanted to make his last shift extra special. After chatting with his wife about it, he thought it would be funny to sign off, referencing his favorite movie, and busting a move.
The officer soon had everyone in stitches, and the video was shared everywhere. It became viral almost instantly. Everyone wants to see a police officer having fun and not taking life so seriously, so it came as no surprise that the video was shared so many times.
His remarkable video brought happiness to other people.
Officer Burrows told FaithPot that he has enjoyed serving his community for so many years but is looking forward to his well-deserved break.
His wife added that it will be a big change to have him at home, but that watching the video brought a tear to her eye. She joked that she isn’t sure if it’s because he is leaving a job he loved for so many years or if it’s because she will be stuck with him at home all day and night.
The couple is looking forward to their retirement, and there will probably be many movie marathons in their future.
Officer Burrows’ final sign-off might be different from others but it surely made him feel really happy. Although it was obvious on his face that he was getting a bit emotional, he immediately changed the mood by dancing. It’s definitely fun to watch. Aside from that, it’s also inspiring.
It’s like he tells us that every end is the beginning of something else. Hopefully, now that he’s retired, he still gets to dance and have fun.
