We’ve all done it. Gone flying down the highway not even realizing how fast we’re going.

That’s when we zoom pass a police officer hiding in the cut.

Then we slow down, struggle to put our seat belt on, and try to act nonchalant and hope we don’t get pulled over.

But Officer David Castro says you’re not fooling anyone. He’s seen every trick in the book when it comes to people trying to trick police officers into believing that they’re wearing a seat belt.

Castro, who is the public relations officers at the Cache Police Department in Comanche County Oklahoma, recently made a photo series to show people that the police are onto them.

“I believe laughter is the best universal language and can be used to mend the divide that we have these days between the police and those we serve,” Castro told Bored Panda. “My goal is to help everyone realize that we aren’t just emotionless robots with a badge. We’re people, we care and no matter what your opinion of police may be, we will always come to protect and serve.”

One of the most famous maneuvers is “The Exaggerated Shoulder.” This involves an exaggerated shoulder movement that’s meant to hide the slipping on of the seat belt.

“The No Eye Contact” is another move where the driver pretends that if he doesn’t look at the officer then the officer won’t see him.

“I strongly enforce the seatbelt laws just as I do every other law,” Castro explained.

“I feel it’s a simple 2-second method that could save your life.”

Castro says that people should go for ride alongs with their local police department. This way they could see the kind of accidents police respond to and what it takes to have to deal with a terrible car accident where someone is injured or loses a life.

“Then they’ll understand the importance of clicking it. Also, it’s a good reminder to tell your passengers to wear their seatbelts as well so that everyone makes it home safely.”

And while his photo series was meant to be humorous he hopes it will inspire people to make sure they buckle up so they don’t have to look as ridiculous as the people in these photos.

You don’t want to find yourself doing the “turtle” or the “sudden itch.” It’s honestly not a good look.
