Having a baby and becoming a new parent is both really exciting and a little bit scary. There are so many unknowns and all of a sudden you are responsible for everything this tiny human needs. It’s an amazing thing to become a parent and know this little piece of you will become a full grown adult out in the world.

You can read all the books, do all the research but you can’t quite ever be fully prepared for the actual moment your baby enters the world. You want to do everything possible to love them and connect with them and there are so many new theories and ways to do that now.

One method of connecting with your baby is to have skin to skin contact as early as possible.

The idea of skin to skin contact is that you and your baby are together as one and the baby can feel your heartbeat which naturally soothes them. It’s a beautiful thing to experience and knowing your little one is safe in your arms against your skin knowing you are there to protect them.

When a baby is born it is natural to think of the mother and how she’s feeling, after all, she’s been through and what her experience is and we agree moms deserve a lot of credit! But there is also the new dad to think about. Seeing his new child for the first time, holding them and bonding. Skin to skin contact can be a very wonderful step for both the mother and father.

For Maxamillian Kendall Neubauer skin to skin contact was not the only way he connected with his daughter.

Because there were complications with his wife’s recovery after delivery, Maxamillian would be not only the first parent to hold their daughter, Rosalía, but also believe it or not to breastfeed her as well. As discussed above there are many new ideas and methods out there to bond with your child and one of those is a new twist on the process of breastfeeding.

The nurses knew Maxamillian had a good sense of humor so one day when he was holding Rosalía they jokingly asked him if he wanted to try out breastfeeding her via a false nipple and syringe. Being very open to new experiences and having “the ability to try just about anything once” he happily agreed.

The nursing staff was overjoyed they would get to try this new idea out and immediately got the supplies. They put on a nipple shield that was connected to a syringe tube with formula in it and Rosalía latched on immediately.

Maxamillian never thought in a thousand years he would be able to or get to experience breastfeeding his daughter.

Parenting methodology and ideas have come a long way in modern times and this little family is a perfect example of how important it is for both parents to connect with their child. It’s very clear Maxamillian is not only willing to do anything for his daughter but that he’s also going to be an amazing dad.
