The group of dancers bounce and move together in a continuous mass of excitement with arms flying through the air and cheers of joy emanating from within.
The band continues to play their song and more people continue to run in.
By now, there are maybe a hundred people all gathered together and enjoying the freedom that comes along with expressive movement and human connection.
This video is a great reminder of how important it is to express yourself freely.
That man who started to dance on his own was the sole reason that this dance party became the awesome spectacle that it was.
Smart Recovery tells us that, “Expressive arts bridge the gap between the conscious and unconscious mind. When we put our mental process into a physical form, we feel more in control of our thoughts and feelings, and we understand them more clearly.”
Had that man be encumbered by his self-consciousness, it would have denied all of those people an experience that many of them will remember for years to come.
So the next time that you are feeling the urge to dance, don’t hold back.
Because when you aren’t concerned with how other people will perceive you, you allow others to enjoy themselves freely as well.
And that truly is the greatest gift that you can give to someone.
So don’t be shy, don’t be embarrassed, and please, whatever you do, don’t stop dancing.
