When you decide to follow someone on social media, whether it be on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, do you check to see how many followers they have? Do you also look for how many accounts they are following?
Or does that not matter to you, since you would still follow them anyway?
For me, I’d follow more for the content than the account’s following, but others don’t always feel this way. At the same time, some people just don’t care about those arbitrary numbers because hey, it’s not like they have some special meaning, right?
Well, for some brands, it turns out these numbers do have a special significance. One of these brands is a famous American fast food chain known for their chicken: KFC.
The international fast food brand, owned by Yum! Brands, Inc., follows strict standards for their quality of food. However, KFC’s Twitter page is even more selective when it comes to choosing the accounts they follow.
The reason? For one very intentional reason. Twitter user @edgette22 figured it all out. Behold:
.@KFC follows 11 people.
Those 11 people? 5 Spice Girls and 6 guys named Herb.
11 Herbs & Spices. I need time to process this.

Pretty clever, right? I never would have guessed. And in case you think this is only a conspiracy theory, look at the photo evidence below. This Twitter user hit the nail on the head.

I have to give it to KFC’s marketing team. That’s a nice little easter egg for any mega KFC fans out there.
