Logan Boulet was one of 16 people who died in the dreadful bus-crash in Saskatchewan, Canada on Friday, April 6th.
While traveling to an away game in Nipawin for the playoffs, the Humboldt Broncos Junior hockey team’s charter bus struck a semi-trailer with such intensity, it killed over half of the 29 passengers, and severely injured the remaining 14 riders.
The wreckage was unbelievable.

In the wake of such daunting tragedy, nobody expected the overwhelming amount of good that has resulted from this nightmarish accident.
Just weeks before the crash, Logan had registered to become an organ donor. He was rushed to the local hospital, where he was put on life support while matches could be found for his organs.
On Saturday, April 7th, Logan’s family spoke to the strength of Logan’s heart in a statement released to Canada’s Global News.
Despite other media reports today, Logan’s strong heart continues to beat this evening. The final harvesting of Logan’s organs will take place overnight, now that he has positive matches for all organs donated. He is giving new hope to at least six people. Logan made it clear previously that he signed his donor card as soon as he turned 21. Even in his eventual passing, he will be a selfless hero.
Logan’s decision to donate his organs has inspired thousands of people across Canada to register as well, leaving behind him a legacy of hope for those who remain on transplant waiting lists.
As a result, people are spreading awareness in an outpouring of gratitude on social media. In one such post, Top Shelf Prospects, a scouting news-feed on Twitter, proclaims the heroism of Boulet and his family.

This is good news to the tens of thousands still waiting on vital organs.
When a person reaches the point of needing an organ transplant, it becomes a high-risk waiting game where the stakes are your life. Though thousands of people register each year to become a donor, waiting lists for viable organs are long and continue to grow each day.
According to the Department of Health and Human Services, 20 people die every day while waiting on a transplant match.

Alberta Health Minister, Sarah Hoffman, reached out to Logan’s family on Twitter to praise them for their courage.
To the family of Logan Boulet: we are so proud of you and the amazing son you raised. Your hearts have been so strong in a tragic moment. Between Sun-Thurs, 13,566 Albertans went to https://t.co/ihKY7IumhH to register (nearly 10x the usual). https://t.co/npGgUOsQfp #ableg #abndp

With one small, selfless act, he saved six others from the same fate.
A celebration of life was held for Logan on Saturday, April 14th in his hometown of Lethbridge, Alta. Services were held at the Nicholas Sheran Arena, where the hockey rink was brimming with thousands of mourners.
Logan’s godfather, Neil Langevin, gave a speech that moved mourners to their feet, booming with cheer in a standing ovation for Logan.

While Logan’s passing brings great sorrow, his memory lives in the hearts of those who knew him.
According to CBC News, Jared Heidinger, one of Logan’s former teachers, spoke at Logan’s service regarding the traits in Logan he would want for his children.
He was one of those kids. Humble yet confident. Humorous but not attention seeking. Hard working but balanced.
