Stare at the same thing often enough and your brain might start taking you in all kinds of different directions. You might trick yourself into seeing it as something completely different! Or maybe you’re seeing something from a different angle for the first time and it looks almost unrecognisable! Maybe someone you know sees something completely differently than you do. This isn’t an uncommon phenomonon, but we’ve gathered thirty instances where it was really cool and unique, check ’em out!
1) Where do I go?
This puddle in a parking garage created a perfect mirror and delievered some seriously confusing effects! It looks like you could keep driving down, down, down. It actually really creeps me out, but in a cool way! I think it’s rad, but something about the look of that ramp going “down” just doesn’t sit right. Maybe it’s something similar to the uncanny valley effect?
2) The bath… The final frontier.
Me thinks there might be some clever camerawork at play here but it’s super cool anyway. It’s only a matter of time until bath bombs are made and sold specifically for the purpose of making your tub look like you’re floating among the stars! It kind of reminds me of one of those splatter art paintings where people use common household items to make a galaxyscape!
3) Polly want a capper?
Leave it to kids to see animals in a completely mundane everyday object! She isn’t wrong though, that is 110% a parrot and you won’t convince me that there isn’t a bottle opener x parrot conspiracy now. What does it all mean!? Do parrots love beer more than us!?
4) Improvise, adapt, overcome
Amateur film makers are not known for their massive budgets, which means they often have to get pretty creative. Well, this definitely fits the bill, so hopefully that means they’re going places! If you don’t have an expensive dolly handy you can always tape your tripod to what looks like a chair weighed down by two 2-litres and then tape that to a skateboard! Maybe if the camera work doesn’t pan out (HA) they can try engineering?
5) The last thing a ghost sees before it dies
The stuff of nightmares. 2D 3D 2D Pacman. Did you ever wonder what Pacman would look like head on? Me neither. But unfortunately we’re on the internet so we get shown things not meant for human eyes all the time! This twitter user decided to share his haunted visions with all of us, and got as close as he could to the truth. But there is no pencil or pen black enough for the great void that resides within The Pac Man. Open up and say AHHHH!
6) Don’t trip
This fanciful neighbor decided that there must needs be more color in the world of nature, especially during cold autumn months when all the leaves have left for the foreseeable future! They did a great job, the tree looks amazing, and I seriously have no idea how they managed to accomplish such a feat! Surely you couldn’t just use any paint, could you? Way to spruce up the neighborhood, my dear artist!
That is pretty clever advertising right there. It wouldn’t seem like much on the first floor, but anyone walking on the second or third floors of this mall are treated with something pretty memorable to say the least! “They look like ants from up here?” No! They look like fleas! Significantly less pleasant!
8) Scales need love
This is unique in a different kind of way but I love it. Of course a man is going to walk his lizard! Lizard needs love and exercise just like a dog or any other animal! And maybe lizard likes exploring. You don’t know what lizard likes. You don’t know lizard’s story!
9) Blast off!
A pretty great coincidence to be sure, but not one many people would have noticed! It’s made for a great joke as well, because it seriously looks like that roller coaster just took off. Maybe this is how we ought to start launching rockets in the future?
10) Technically correct
Well can you blame the guy? How on earth would you leave a package like that under the doormat!? It was probably an old leftover delivery note that this guy decided to have fun with, who knows. Whatever it was, I’m happy this guy is as funny as he is, because he gave me a good chuckle.
11) Unravel travel
Maybe it’s just because I’ve been locked in my house for two months and itching to travel but that tear looks an awful lot like a boat on the ocean, doesn’t it? A combination of many things to be sure, but the perspective of the camera is the biggest one. It’s a seriously clever method of tricking the eye and the mind!
Leave it to cats to not give a dang about smack. This little guy was happy just laying in his basket, and whatever else happened just didn’t matter! And as it turns out that includes being a passively helpful pen holder!
13) Introducing the adventures of…
You gotta wonder what their super powers would be. What would their adventures be like? Their villains would have to decently match them. Big eye and little leg or something like that! I love these weird pictures like this.
14) Insightful or infuriating?
Okay this is straight up more impressive than anything else. She’s saving tape! Do you really need a piece the size of the whole roll? No! This way you get a nice medium sized piece AND a smaller roll when you’re done! It’s good economics.
15) Sun kissed
I really don’t like this one. The officer clearly isn’t enjoying it and the sun is enjoying it too much. And those eyes are horrifying! A dead stare straight into the depths of your soul. I gotta wonder how this user even noticed this image, because you lose it once you stare at it too long!
16) Quick solution
Here’s a handy one for when you’re bored and stuck somewhere and just need to watch some Netflix or something on your phone! Maybe you need both of your hands for eating some delicious chips or something, maybe you’re laying down, it works for plenty of situations! It’s good to just keep this one in your back pocket, thanks internet stranger!
Man those pigeons are huge! I wonder how they fit into their car? Maybe it has to be a convertable. Honestly this was just really quick and clever, thankfully concrete is just regular old gray and made this picture possible!
I understand this picture but I also really don’t understand this picture. So it’s just water sitting on a car sure, but there are little shadows seemingly “under” the water! How does that even work? Is this a hydrophobic surface or something?
19) Bird’s eye muse
I love this one! The skiiers had to all be pretty close together and ordered just right to make this overhead shot look like sheet music! I wonder if anyone has tried playing this “song”? I kind of want to try it now except I have little to no idea how to read music.
20) Still life
The paintings are coming to life! I’d like to know where this is and why there are so many pitchforks in the picture. Is it a pitchfork shop? That’s pretty hilarious to hang this picture up over one of the items in stock. Someone’s garage? Why do you have so many pitchforks that are all the exact same? Surely you only need one or two!
What a great picture! I’m sure this is still treasured by the family! This little guy might as well be looking right at his future, he can expect to end up just like his dad eventually, right? So cute!
This is really imaginative, and one of my favorites from this list! If you can see the world like this then you can keep just about anything interesting. You just have to look at it from a different perspective and suddenly you could be looking out over great sandy dunes in a desert or mountains snowy peaks or anything else you want!
23) Kitty c t
Deeply concerning for a quick moment, but it’s just a trick of the eye! How weird is it that this cat’s fur is the same color as the sand!? It made for a great picture at least, good eye cat parent!
24) Myth in life
This one is pretty crazy! That had to be a really perfectly timed picture or a complete accident! But it looks pretty much perfect, it could only be better if they were wandering the coasts of Greece, and then we’d really see myth come to life!
25) Pow! Smack! Whap!
Hilarious and kind of weirdly cute! Just me? Fair enough. I can’t say I’ve ever seen a bandaid with little “eyes” like that poked out, and I have to wonder if it came like that or if the poster cut them out for the picture! Maybe they have some purpose that I don’t understand? I don’t know. I’m not a bandaid scientist.
What is even happening here? No way this would work, right? I won’t get into the nerd speak but no way this would work. So why is it being done? For the shiggles of course, why does anything happen anymore!? Maybe they just needed to use all their adapters for some reason?
27) Frosty the Soyman
Little cartoon frosty! He looks so… confused and concerned. But I like his look! It’s a good vibe. I would have definitely watched a show all about this guy when I was a kid. Good eye for characters, my fellow food lover!
28) Impromptu space station
Seriously, I got chills looking at this picture. It seems so real somehow. The lensflare really sends it to that next level and it seems like you’re floating in space waiting for your shuttle to approach the moon! Even without the realy great effects from the flare and the telescope rim, it’s a pretty beautifully clear image of the moon! It seems so close!
29) Fly me to the moon
Piggybacking off the the last picture, it seems like these passengers really are heading to the moon! It’s crazy to think this might be an actual regular occurance some day. We might look up and see sky trails leading all the way out of our atmosphere, and it will seem just as normal as seeing jet trails today. A sci-fi nerd can dream!
30) Blood walkin’
What tiny invisible person have you had walking across you? Why did they heel stomp your hand? This leaves more questions than answers, my man… In all seriousness, that is a pretty weird coincidence to be sure! It also looks a little like an exclamation point, so you could use it to express yourself until it totally heals up!
So? See what I mean? These were all pretty mundane every day objects and happenings but people were able to see something new about them. They might have just been staring at them too long or they just have that kind of mindset where they can look at something and go “that looks like an X” or whatever! The best ones were the instances where people saw the potential in something and made it happen, like that painted rainbow tree!
