The most important of these lessons, in my opinion, is being present.
Somewhere along our evolutionary journey, humans lost the ability to just be.
We are constantly running from appointment to appointment, longing for things that we don’t have, and wishing that we could be in places that we currently aren’t.
When she is done with this, she decides that it is time to have a little bit of fun.
So she lays in the cement path and starts rolling around on her back.
She’s flipping this way and that and just as she completes a full roll, she notices something that is within her reach–her tail.
So she grabs at her tail and flips it around, pretending that it is some poor mouse or bug that has, unfortunately, found its way into her kitty claws.
The video continues with many more shots of this cat just being a cat.
And it is amazing.
Because as humans, sometimes all it takes is watching another creature enjoying itself for us to remember that we could be doing that too.
Humans have been using pets as therapeutic tools for a long time.
According to HelpGuide, “Pets, especially dogs and cats, can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, ease loneliness, encourage exercise and playfulness, and even improve your cardiovascular health. Perhaps most importantly, though, a pet can add real joy and unconditional love to your life.”
