In the video posted below, the London-native who also goes by the name Dr. K encounters two women from China at a piano. The women had never heard boogie-woogie before and were in for a big surprise from Kavanagh. The style of music happens to be a specialty of his. You won’t believe how these two young women reacted to him sitting down and breaking out the boogie-woogie tunes on the piano.

Kavanagh has more than 1 million subscribers to his YouTube channel. Not all of his talents lay in his musical performances, however. There’s more to this YouTube star than that.

Kavanagh likes to dress up in different disguises before he engages strangers in his videos. Sometimes, he’ll dress up as a UPS driver, construction worker, or as an airline pilot. Dressing up in costume is just another way in which he is able to increase the level of surprise felt by others when he reveals his musical talents.

Kavanagh happened upon a woman playing classical music on a piano in public while out one day.

The woman was quite talented and a crowd of people had gathered to watch her perform. Kavanagh listened to her performance from afar while dressed in dark sunglasses and black clothing. It was clear this woman had musical talent but Kavanagh was prepared to show the crowd he has some skills as well.

Kavanagh approached the young woman and asked her if she knew any boogie-woogie. As the young woman was not familiar with the rather unique musical style, she acted understandably confused. She was about to experience boogie-woogie firsthand from someone well-versed in it and prepared to share his talents with her, the gathered crowd, and YouTube!

Kavanagh starts out by playing classical music, something the women are familiar with. Then he changed things up in an unexpected way. Kavanagh threw things for a loop by adding in some boogie-woogie style tunes the women weren’t familiar with it.

The two women’s faces lit up as the music changed. Now, they were bopping around and enjoying this new sound they’d never heard before. Even though the music was not familiar to them, they seemed to connect with it right away.

Boogie-woogie is a toe-tapping type of music that became popular in the 1920s. It originated sometime in the 1870s.

Many people who follow Kavanagh grew up loving boogie-woogie and its unique musical stylings. Viewers of Kavanagh’s video also include people new to the style, however. One commentator on the video noted:

“My first memories of music are of boogie woogie, love it! Loved watching and hearing my grandmother play it! Damn that feels good!”

Music connects everyone, no matter where someone comes from or what language they speak. It truly is a universal language we all share.

The women in the video did not speak English but that didn’t prevent them and Kavanagh from developing a connection. The two women’s faces could barely contain their smiles as they clapped along and enjoyed his performance.

As Kavanagh’s performance draws to an end, he goes back to playing classical music as he did when he first sat down at the piano. This draws cheers from the two women. They clearly enjoyed the YouTube star’s performance as have many others who have watched the below video.
