Sometimes we have certain attributes that become our signature characteristics. It’s what makes us, us. Laura spent years growing out her long brown locks.
However, life’s circumstances forced a change upon her. Laura found out that she had cancer and would need to get chemotherapy.
This meant that her hair would likely fall out. So, she decided that she would get a new short haircut that would help her transition into her new stage of life. Laura headed off to New York City to see stylist Jerome Lordet at the Pierre Michel Salon.
“Laura came to see me to cut her hair before chemotherapy,” Lordet explained in his YouTube video of Laura’s transformation. “Two weeks later she lost all of her hair.”
Lordet gave Laura a brand new fun and easy hairstyle that gave her an edgy look.
He first took a giant diagonal chop into Laura’s hair removing about a foot of her lengthy tresses.
Lordet seemed to work magic with his scissors as he layered and chopped her locks so that her hair was short in the back and edging to the front with her chopped bangs framing her face.
Her haircut was absolutely gorgeous a la Linda Evangelista in the 90s. Her transformation was so drastic that the video is one of the most popular hair makeovers on YouTube.
The video of Laura’s haircut, which includes music by Christine and the Queens and makeup by salon artist Katherine, got more than 15 million views on YouTube.
Some of the YouTube users said that Laura’s makeover makes her look like Anne Hathaway or Ruby Rose.
“To this day I do not understand why women hate short hair !!! The exposed face is sexy, the face is more exposed, lighted, beautiful and the look very modern!” one commenter said.
“Wow… this look made her more radiant and highlighted her facial features,” another said. “I’m so sorry she’s temporarily dealing with cancer and lost her hair, but, now she knows what she’ll look like with short hair and how beautiful she really is. The long hair was only covering up her natural beauty and those eyes were just amazing.”
Not only does this video offer us with a great makeover, it also shows us what real bravery looks like in the face of adversity.
