She was stunned when he got this text.

We’ve all had a bad date at least once in our lives… but Michelle Thomas’ Tinder date takes it to a whole new level.

In 2015, Michelle connected with a single dad on the popular, location-based dating app, Tinder. They chatted and arranged to meet. The evening started with a few drinks at a local pub, then continued with a nice dinner, an evening stroll and yes, a kiss when the evening ended.

Michelle was excited. The date, she thought, had gone really well and she was certain there was some chemistry there.

It turns out Michelle wasn’t wrong. Her date texted her the next day to tell her how amazing he thought she was… BUT, it just wasn’t going to work out, he told her. Because – and this is a direct quote – his “mind gets turned on by someone slimmer.”

Now, just in case you’re thinking Single Dad surely didn’t mean that in the awful way it sounds, keep reading… it gets worse.

“.. whilst I am hugely turned on by your mind, your face, your personality (and God… I really, really am), I can’t say the same about your figure. So I can sit there and flirt and have the most incredibly fun evening, but I have this awful feeling that when we got undressed my body would let me down. I don’t want that to happen baby.”

He continued by telling her he hasn’t felt this way about someone in a long time and how disappointed he is (in himself) that he can’t get past her weight. He even tells her, “I would marry you like a shot if you were a slip of a girl because what you have in that mind of yours is utterly unique, and I really really love it,” and then, ends with “Please try and forgive me. I adore you XX.”

A “slip of a girl?” Oh yeah… he said it. And if you’re as horrified as we were, then you’ll love her response.

Michelle posted his text on her blog, along with her official – and very public response.

You don’t have to fancy me,” she tells him.

“What isn’t fine is the fact that, after a few hours in my company, you took the time to write this utterly uncalled-for message. It’s nothing short of sadistic. Your tone is saccharine and condescending, but the forensic detail in which you express your disgust at my body is truly grotesque. The only possible objective for writing it is to wound me.

And I’m ashamed to say, for a few moments, it worked. You stirred a dormant fear that every woman who was ever a teenage girl has — that it doesn’t matter how funny you are, how clever, how kind, how passionate, how loyal, how determined or adventurous or vibrant — if you’re a stone overweight, no one will ever find you desirable.”

And then she ends with,

Kiss.
My.
Exquisitely.
Unmarriagable.
Arse.

We couldn’t have said it better. You can read Michelle’s entire response (and the moronic letter that started this!) on her blog.
