When you hear a good song, sometimes you just have to get down and get funky. And that doesn’t just go for humans.

Animals got rhythm and soul too and, sometimes, they just want to dance.

Well, at least Melanie Kessler’s horse does. But only when her daughters are dancing with the horse.

She posted a video of her two girls dancing to Silento’s popular dance song “Watch Me,” also known as the Whip/Nae Nae, next to a horse at the San Antonio Rose Palace, which is an arena located in Leon Springs.

She captures some video of her girls doing all the popular dance moves to the songs. She videos them while they “duff,” “bop,” and “whip” around and it’s absolutely adorable.

But it’s their horse that steals the show.

The horse starts swaying and bopping about, seemingly trying to imitate the girls. The music is too much for him and he is captivated by it.

“Actually the horse doesn’t do it all day and night long, only when that song plays and the girls dance w Her,” Kessler wrote on Facebook. “I”ve never see a horse do it and I for sure don’t know how to dance. The girls got her to do it and no she is not scared of kids because my daughter in the pink jumped up on her and rode her off right after the video.”

As it turns out, horses love music.

“Playing music helps balance equine behavior because it helps mask outside sounds and vibrations, such as tractor engines, high-pitched tools, thunder, and other intense sounds,” Equine Wellness Magazine reports. “I’ve discovered that horses respond best to music with short melodies and strong rhythmic patterns. If you’re looking for a style that fits this criteria, classical or country played at a low volume will have a positive effect and help calm horses while they’re resting, eating and being groomed in the barn. It’s not so much the style of music, but its frequency and volume that are most important.”

The video got an overwhelmingly positive response online. Kessler’s video got more than 5 million views on Facebook and tons of positive comments.

“That’s gettin’ down with they funky self,” said one person.

“Shut up! That is hilarious! That horse!”

“For sure they got rhythm.”
