In a society where carrying a cell phone is as commonplace as wearing underwear, you’re bound to encounter a wrong number or two.

Usually, these encounters don’t go much further than a polite response— or no response at all. But when a recent university grad named Justin Campbell accidentally texted the wrong number, he ended up with a bit more than what he bargained for!

This past year, Justin graduated with a degree from Coastal Carolina University. After walking the stage and receiving his diploma, the young man decided to take a photo with a friend.

Trying to send the photo to his friend, Justin enters a few numbers. He makes a mistake dialing, however, and ends up sending the photos to a good-humored stranger named Roger Hawkins.

Justin tells BuzzFeed, “I just put one number in the wrong place.”

Roger’s reply, however, surprises him.

Roger, a real estate agent who moonlights as a punk rock singer on the side, replied with an enthusiastic selfie, writing “Congrats fellas the skies the limit!” and attaching an iTunes playlist of motivational speeches, such as the following:

He tells BuzzFeed, “There’s a part of me that really wants to be encouraging to young people— or anybody that’s working hard to get somewhere against the odds.”

Justin is confident that he and Roger will be staying in touch, telling BuzzFeed, “He’s a good guy. I’m open to hitting him up every now and then to see how he’s doing.” Roger, for his part, agrees, telling BuzzFeed he would love to see what Justin does with his future.
