Though some of us wish we could, we aren’t able to choose our siblings. We can, however, choose our friends. Sometimes our best friends can be even closer to us than our siblings.

Raven, however, got to choose both. Her new sibling who would also be her best friend.

Raven’s mom Christina took Raven, who was a puppy at the time, to a Lubbock, Texas animal shelter to pick out her very own kitten to take home.

“I had always wanted a dog and a cat to grow up together,” Christina told The Dodo.

Christina said that Raven, who is a Tamaskan Husky and was adopted a month earlier, didn’t really take to the four kittens that were brought out before her.

She wasn’t really interested in them.

That was until she spotted her soulmate, a kitten named Woodhouse.

“I wanted them to be able to get along well,” Christina said. “So I wanted her to actually meet the cat and have the cat get along with the dog as well.”

Daisy the puppy has been picked up by her owners so now these two can get back to their normal shenanigans. #vampiretooth

And boy did they! Little did Christina know, but that moment was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

A friendship which she says often results in “shenanigans.”

“They are perfect with each other,” Christina said. “They don’t cuddle as much as they used to when they were a puppy and kitten. But they’re still always together, always playing together.”

Their favorite game to play is tag, but Woodhouse usually just ends up chasing Raven around. And naps. They LOVE napping.

“Woke up in the middle of the night to pee and saw this,” Christina wrote on the raven_and_woodhouse Instagram page. “Raven woke up when I turned the lamp on to take the photo. Words can’t explain the love and trust these two have for each other. It truly warms my heart and I can’t believe I get to call them mine.”
