A bond between a grandchild and a grandparent is one of the strongest bonds we ever make throughout life.
An 8-year-old girl named Sophie has been singing to her great-grandma for a couple years now — it’s one of her great-grandma’s greatest joys. They have often shared this heartwarming moment in much better environments — but this time, it was at the hospital.
Sophie visited her great-grandmother at the hospital and nestled up to her on the bed. She sits up close to her great-grandmother’s head, and softly strokes her face as she is half perched up on a pillow.
Sophie lovingly starts to sing ‘You Are My Sunshine’ to her great-grandmother, gently stroking her great-grandma’s chin.
Her great-grandma is looking up at Sophie with complete awe and adoration. It’s obvious that she is so grateful to have such an incredible bonding moment with her young family member. It’s a memory that will surely stay with them for the rest of their lives.
Yvonne, Sophie’s grandma, says that ‘You Are My Sunshine’ has been sung in the family for years. It holds a special place in everyone’s heart — and now, it has touched the hearts of thousands of people’s hearts all over the internet.
Sophie was first captured singing this sweet tune to her great-grandma in 2015, who suffered from dementia. It gained over 700,000 views.

It’s clear that Sophia and her great nana have been close for years; despite their difference in age, and the generations between them, they are kindred souls.
The precious little girl visited her great-grandma once again. This time, she is older and her health is starting to fade; however, Sophie is right by her side to sing to her and comfort her.
The personal, tear-jerking moment was caught on camera once again. Sophie and her great-grandma have such an incredible bond that will be cherished for eternity.
